I was searching for a small lamp for the narrow side table I had recently built. I searched high and low and either couldn’t find the right size and/or the price was more than I wanted to pay. So, what did I do? Built a small lamp myself that fit the exact dimensions I needed!
Even better…this project is SUPER quick and SUPER easy! Just a few simple steps and you have yourself a stylish new lamp!
WHAT YOU NEED:

-
2 – 12 inch cut 1×4’s
-
2 – 5 inch cut 1×4’s
-
Plug in Light Bulb Socket
-
4 Nails
-
Wood Glue
-
Burlap
-
Drill with 1.5 inch hole saw
-
Hot Glue Gun
-
Hot Glue
LET'S GET STARTED!
Step 1: Cut a hole in the center of one of the 5” boards (hint: to identify the middle, draw an “X” on the board and cut in the center of the “X”)

Step 2: Glue it all together! Using a bead of glue on each attached side, glue all the pieces together until you have a complete rectangle shape

Step 3: Let the glue dry for enough so that you can drive 2 nails into each corner without the pieces shifting (about an hour)

Step 4: Insert the socket into your pre drilled hole – for extra stability, place a bead of glue (hot glue or wood glue) where the socket and wood meet

Step 5: Cut the burlap long enough and wide enough to wrap around the top of your lamp. Using a hot glue gun, glue down the edges of the burlap for a more seamless finish. Then glue the sides of the lamp where the burlap will lay and wrap the burlap around the lamp

Step 6: Enjoy your new lamp!
